What is Chi Gong?
Chi Gong is an easy-to-learn, whole body exercise with a focus on co-ordinating breathing with movement. It seeks to deliver a healthy, supple body whilst also improving cardiovascular fitness, strength and balance.
In Chinese, ‘Chi’ is your natural ‘life energy’ and ‘Gong’ means ‘accomplishment through just the right amount of effort.’ Chi Gong cultivates your natural energy, and the skill you build gives a real and powerful sense of fulfilment.
Chi Gong is intended to be done regularly – not only is it a fantastic part of any self-care routine, you are also embarking on an incredible journey of self-cultivation.

Your Teacher
Alex Carter is a life-long martial artist, a karate, kobudo and Chi Gong teacher based in the UK with 25 years’ professional experience – a 4th dan Black Belt in Karate and kobudo and former English Champion.
Inspired by the masters she learnt from, she has travelled the world over 3 decades from Taiwan to Okinawa to study with the most talented masters of Karate, Chi Gong, Kung Fu and Tai Chi. The term ‘Sensei’ literally means “someone who has been there before” – Alex really has.
She has collated her favourite elements from each discipline to produce genuinely energising classes. Each session builds a new layer of skill, meaning your effort always comes with reward.

Movement with music really elevates our practice and helps you to remember sequences. Music is ergogenic - work enhancing and our brains respond to music with a powerful adrenalin, endorphin and dopamine rush energising effort and alleviating pain. It's most rewarding practising live, in a group but, if you do miss a class, you can choose a recording from the archive. You can look up your favourite routine by song or by set.
